Do you find yourself struggling with negative beliefs or finding it difficult to let go of past experiences? I specialize in helping college students navigate the unique challenges and transitions that come with academic life. Whether you're dealing with stress from classes, anxiety about the future, relationship issues, or personal struggles, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. College is an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming. The pressure to succeed academically, socially, and personally can take a toll on your mental health. I’m here to help you develop coping strategies, manage stress, and gain clarity on what’s most important to you. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, and CBT. I like to use somatic interventions to help clients reprocess traumatic memories, explore their inner emotional landscape and work through beliefs that can become stuck points in traditional talk therapy. You can expect to gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and the parts that make up your personality, relief from symptoms, and increased emotional resilience.
Christy Fogg
Hi! I’m Christy. I’m the owner and a therapist at Journey to Joy Counseling. I believe that many people reach a point in their lives where they feel overwhelmed by life. This could be triggered by the loss of a job, a struggling marriage, family issues, or a personal battle. It can be hard to reach out for help. Sometimes it may feel easier just to withdraw or isolate, mask, or even ignore the problem. I’ve learned that while these attempts to cope may help temporarily, they don’t make the problems go away. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to seek help. People often ask me “How can counseling help?” I’ve learned from my own personal experience with therapy that counseling provides a safe space, a neutral party to bounce things off of, and a place to process things you may not realize you need to address. I believe that it is important to meet people where they are emotionally. No matter where you are on your journey, you need to be able to evaluate how you got to this point, and where you want to go from here. It’s important for me to understand the goals you have for your life and your personal growth. I want to offer you a neutral support system, a trusting and collaborative relationship, and my knowledge, experience, and training in order to help you have the best therapy experience.

I truly believe that choosing to prioritize your own or your child’s mental health is one of the bravest and most meaningful decisions a person or parent can make. Whether you are reaching out for yourself at any stage of life or seeking support for your teenager, committing to healing and personal growth can feel overwhelming. Even finding the right therapist can feel like a daunting first hurdle. I am genuinely glad you are here and taking this step. Opening up to someone new is not easy. When beginning therapy for teens, it can feel especially intimidating to trust someone with their thoughts and emotions. For parents, it can be painful and confusing to watch your child struggle and not know how to “fix” it. Further, with adults of any age, it can be just as challenging to slow down, reflect, and allow yourself the space to be supported, or even to admit that you are struggling in the first place. I strive to create a confidential, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself, explore your experiences, and begin meaningful healing. I work with adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Concerns may include anxiety (such as generalized anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, or phobias), depression and mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD and executive functioning difficulties, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, OCD, and challenges related to life transitions. With teens specifically, I have a passion for supporting concerns such as school avoidance, academic pressure, peer relationships, bullying, identity exploration, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and family conflict. I also work with more complex concerns, including self-harm, suicidal thoughts, substance use, eating disorders, and behavioral challenges. For adults, therapy may focus on stress, burnout, relationship concerns, career or life transitions, parenting challenges, unresolved trauma, or patterns that are no longer serving you. Many adults also seek therapy to better understand themselves, improve emotional awareness, and create more meaningful, values-driven lives. I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis, where I also completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. My training included supervised clinical experiences across a variety of settings and ages, including private practice, residential treatment, a therapeutic day school, and juvenile justice systems. During my predoctoral internship, I received intensive training working with youth and families involved in complex systems of care, and collaborated closely with schools, probation, and child welfare agencies. My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities that are tailored to each individual’s specific needs. In our first sessions, we will discuss current difficulties, collaborate on goals, and determine the best approach for you or your child. My goal is to meet you where you are. For teens, this often means building trust at their own pace and helping them develop practical coping skills and emotional insight. For parents, it may involve collaboration, guidance, and tools to strengthen connection and communication at home. For adults, it may look like exploring patterns, building resilience, and working toward lasting, meaningful change. I am not what we psychologists call a “blank slate” therapist, and I will enthusiastically support you, celebrate you, and laugh with you, while also holding space for the difficult topics and why you came to therapy in the first place. No matter where you or your family are starting, you don’t have to navigate it alone. If you feel that I may be a good fit for you or your child, I welcome you to reach out.

I work with clients who are going through life or identity transitions and for those feel alone, anxious, depressed, haunted by their past, or trapped in their tangled thoughts. I also specialize in personality disorders and/or religious trauma. Education on social justice issues, including racial, cultural, LGBTQ+, and religious differences, is a top priority for me. Not all human experiences can be expressed verbally, so I am trained in both traditional talk therapy and offer art therapy as well. My guidance typically involves reframing thoughts, building assertiveness, identifying/managing emotions, trauma-informed care, harm reduction models, and processing experiences. I am also one of the only therapists in Indiana who identifies as a pagan and secular provider. If you are looking for a non-religious therapist who understands growing up in a religious environment, reach out!

Culture, identity, and expression are essential to happiness. However, for some of us, this is a challenge to embrace. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them embrace their true selves and accept what we cannot change. People frequently limit themselves based on old assumptions & expectations, and it can be freeing to start to untangle this. The emotional pain caused by these issues can often be isolating, and it can be healing to have somebody else there with you to explore and process. My approach to therapy is to use self-understanding and awareness as a mechanism for change. While my style is primarily insight-oriented, I have an eclectic approach incorporating various therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective therapy. My first session is exploring our fit and discussing realistic expectations and outcomes. También ofrezco sesiones en Español si es necesario o lo prefiere.

Teal Flanigan
I am originally from California, but have called Colorado (Denver) my home for the last thirteen years. While I do miss the ocean, I love being in the mountains and all they have to offer. When I am not working, I am often playing in my garden, doing something in the kitchen, spending time with friends and family, or traveling. I am the same person during session as I am outside of session; laid back, a little goofy, genuinely curious about others’ lives, and compassionate. I use she/her pronouns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and am licensed to see clients in Colorado, Indiana, Florida and Nevada. I have been practicing therapy since 2013 and truly enjoy working with my clients. I love learning about how trauma and stress can impact our minds, bodies and nervous systems and the ways we can heal and start to feel better. I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist as well as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I often use a mixture of EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SE), attachment, parts focused, and mindfulness techniques to help clients begin to unpack stressful or traumatic events and begin to integrate a sense of healing back into their minds and bodies. These techniques can be helpful for clients struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms, who have experienced one or more traumatic events, substance use, emotion regulation, or uncomfortable body sensations.
