I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in both private practice and the public school system. I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients across many backgrounds, and I especially enjoy working with college students and young adults who are navigating self-esteem, identity exploration, life transitions, and/or social anxiety. My approach blends practical coping tools with deeper self-understanding. I often incorporate personality frameworks, attachment styles, and love languages to help clients make sense of their patterns and build more meaningful connections with themselves and others. My approach incorporates techniques from evidence-based practices like Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I provide structure, coping skills, and guidance when helpful, but I see my clients as the experts of their own experiences. Together, we'll collaborate to identify your goals and shape a path forward. Your first session is a chance to finally exhale and set down some of the weight you’ve been carrying. We’ll talk through your current concerns, explore what feels most important right now, and begin shaping clear goals. If you’ve been carrying a lot, feeling stuck, or just wanting things to feel a little lighter, you’re in the right place. Let's talk.

I work with adults and teens in the often messy, in-between parts of life—when things are changing, expectations feel high, and it’s not always clear how to feel like yourself in the middle of it all. In therapy, I focus on helping you slow things down and make sense of what you’re carrying internally. This often includes patterns of overthinking, self-doubt, difficulty trusting yourself, or navigating relationships in a way that feels overwhelming or confusing. Over time, the work is about helping you feel more steady and secure in who you are, so those internal patterns don’t feel as consuming or defining. My approach is collaborative and grounded, blending mindfulness, ACT, DBT, and experiential work to help you build a different relationship with your thoughts and emotions—not just manage them. I’ve had the privilege of working in both private practice and higher levels of care, including Rogers Behavioral Health and the Renfrew Center, supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and life experiences. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, a Master’s in Human Development from Vanderbilt University, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Georgetown University. My background as a former college athlete also shapes how I understand pressure, identity, and self-expectation—especially in young adulthood. More than anything, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can slow down, make sense of things, and start to feel a bit steadier in yourself.

College can be one of the most exciting—and overwhelming—seasons of life. Between academic pressure, changing friendships, family expectations, relationships, and figuring out who you are, it’s easy to feel stressed, anxious, or unsure of yourself. You don’t have to navigate that alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience supporting teens and young adults through life’s transitions. My approach is strength-based and relationship-focused, meaning I see you as more than your stress, anxiety, or struggles. Together, we’ll build on the strengths you already have while developing practical tools to help you manage overwhelming thoughts, regulate emotions, and feel more confident in your decisions. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies to help you better understand your thought patterns, cope with stress, and respond to challenges in healthier ways. My style is laid back, supportive, and collaborative—I want therapy to feel like a safe space where you can be honest, ask hard questions, and explore who you’re becoming without judgment. Whether you’re feeling anxious about school, struggling with motivation, dealing with relationship conflict, navigating self-worth, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to walk alongside you as you build clarity, resilience, and confidence in this season of life.

The students we work best with are often the ones who look like they are doing fine. You are getting the work done and showing up, but you are tired in a way sleep does not fix, and there is a low hum of dread that never fully goes away. Many of them were the ones who always did well before, so struggling feels like admitting something. What comes up most: anxiety that was manageable at home and is not manageable here, being far from family and not wanting to worry them, a relationship taking up more room than your classes, and family things that did not stay behind when you left. Our therapists are licensed across eleven states, so if you are at school in one and your family is in another, we can usually keep going over the breaks instead of starting over. In Tennessee, sessions are by secure video with Lisa Abrotsky, LMFT, so you can meet from anywhere in the state. Evening times are available when they open up. You do not need a diagnosis to come in.

Most of the students I work with are figuring out who they are while juggling school, family, friendships, and their future. Many feel the weight of being “the strong one” for everyone else, but behind closed doors they’re tired, anxious, or questioning if they’re enough. Some are navigating being away from home for the first time, carrying family expectations, or balancing the pressure to succeed with the need to just breathe. Others feel out of place on campus and want a space where they don’t have to explain themselves or code-switch. I connect best with young people under 25 who are ready for honest conversations, who value a therapist that will both listen deeply and challenge them to grow. My goal is to give you room to unpack your story, understand your emotions, and figure out how to move through stress, relationships, and identity with more clarity and confidence.

My clients don't come to therapy to hear someone nod and agree with everything they say. That isn't worth their time or money. They want real help. They want to know "what to do" and "how to fix it" because they are struggling with depression, severe anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, suicidal thoughts, parenting issues, and other painful situations. They're looking for a true expert that they can actually talk to. I am a member of PSYPACT which means I can see clients in every state that is a member of PSYPACT. I'm also licensed in both TN and MA. I'm a DBT-Linehan Board Certified Clinician and an expert in Borderline Personality Disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, self-harm, and oppositional adolescents. I am an Associate faculty member at Vanderbilt University and have served as a trainer and consultant for a variety of hospitals, schools, and the military. I founded and own PSYCHē, PLLC, a private network of therapists across multiple states. Our job is to pair our clients with great clinicians all over the country. PSYCHē also offers various Standard DBT skills groups and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) skills classes online ranging from $100-$125. New members can begin right away! Visit www.psychepllc.com/groups for more information about groups, meeting times, or to enroll online. Changing people's lives for the better is my life's purpose and where I get a sense of meaning. I love my job :) I look forward to meeting you.

I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression or have been through tough times and want to heal from trauma. College specifically can be a difficult time emotionally, moving into adulthood and living on your own for the first time. Therapy can be a great way to process these changes, learn new ways to cope with stress, and get resources and support. I'd love to chat.

I enjoy living in the corners and at the fringes of what stereotypical therapy might look like. It is important to me that those who are outcasts, quirky, different, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and the marginalized feel heard. When we work together, I want you to feel like you matter (because you do). If you like the utilization of tarot and oracle cards, we can incorporate that. If you need resources on affirming places to practice spirituality, we can look at those. If you want to talk about kink communities and how to get involved with them, we can find them. Whatever works for you works for me, and I want to help you figure that out.

Our office follows safety protocol with any sickness for safety and we also have online resources to provide therapy to our clients. The first assessment is in person but then all other sessions can be online, or face to face! AdvancedMD is for telehealth services; but this will need an appointment and then our clients do receive the link to my platform and guidelines to ensure effective sessions. My other counselors have their own links and this will be provided. Our counselors have no less than a Masters degree and above. We offer Spanish and English. We have one counselor who is African American, one from the UK, and 6 counselors total, along with a Spanish translator receptionist. Our receptionists are a mix of male and female and race backgrounds. I am an alumni from UTC where I graduated with highest honors with my Bachelors in Science, Psychology degree. And I graduated with a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand University. I graduated with 4.0 GPA. I had lived through many transitions in my life and have that experience along with my educational experience that fuels my knowledge, and although both are vast; they pale to my heart that seeks to help. I have served 9 counties providing CCFT, Outpatient, Crisis Intervention, and more. I possess over 80 specialized certificates. My team are as remarkable! We use CBT, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, MATRIX, EFT, Gestalt, REMT, Motivational Interview, DBT, Brainspotting, hypnosis, and many other modalities and are always learning new ones. When I began college it was 8 years after high school and I was married. I was anxious that I may not be able to get the degrees that I wanted after being out of school for so long, but I was experiencing childlessness and wanted to be a mother. Keeping busy was something that I needed due to major depression. We did not have free college opportunities then, so I had to make the grades in order to finance this endeavor. This became a goal which required good study habits and commitment. I attended a community college first, then UTC, and then I completed my masters at Grand Canyon University with a 4.0 GPA. This paid for all of the undergraduate work but not for my Master's, which landed me in debt, but I survived. I have been an entrepreneur for 4 decades of various specialties, and have worn many hats. I love music, art, and journalism which have become most beneficial. I have written 37 songs and intend to write a book soon. I went through 6 surgeries to have my two daughters and have 3 special needs grandchildren and one special needs daughter. I have always loved people. I do not see a stranger. I am a Daughter of the Revolution, and take my country seriously to heart. Also, I am learning ASL and hope to be able to add this population to my clientele. As a small agency, we do not have interpreters for the deaf but do provide a list of practitioners who do. Hiwassee Mental Health, Heidi Ables, and other larger organizations can provide the deaf with interpreter services. We do have Spanish and facilities for those in wheel chairs to aid with those special needs. We work with individuals, groups, families, and do certified classes for anger management, A&D Prevention, and Parenting. We work with ages 4-100 since each of us have special populations in which we prioritize. Please refer to www.healhopecounseling.com to read our articles, blogs/posts and see if we are a good fit. Also, read our bios. We are empirically (evidence) and faith based. Welcome to Heal and Hope Counseling Services. NPI 1184178428, Graduated 2012. Member of CIVITAN, AmVets, Church of Christ, APA, ACA, Good Therapy, Psychology Today, Linked-in, and other. We take many insurances and your fee of the sliding scale will depend upon your annual income bracket which is found on our website.
